Cracker Jack*r Toys

Memories and great information for collectors
After my grandmother passed away, we found a shoebox full of cracker jack toys. It was her special treat for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We took them and mounted them for memory reasons, but this book brought our love of the little toys to a reality of why we loved them as children and the precious value that they have for us today. A great part of our childhood in a great book!

A Wonderful Collection of Cracker Jack Prizes!
This is an amazingly comprehensive collection of Cracker Jack prizes, with HUNDREDS of detailed photos showing THOUSANDS of prizes. While this book is a must-have for the serious collector of Cracker Jack prizes, it will delight anyone with pleasant memories of those special prizes.

The accompanying prize lists with descriptive and historical information are presented chronologically, with prizes grouped by series where applicable. An elaborate identification system reflecting the prizes' date, composition, marking, type, size, color, and description is utilized, with estimated value for each prize given.

Searching through CRACKER JACK TOYS for that fondly remembered surprise can be almost as much fun as originally digging for it in a box of Cracker Jack!

Dangers Men Face: Overcoming the Five Greatest Threats to Living Life Well
Published in Paperback by Navpress (May, 1997)
Author: Jerry E. White
Average review score:

Excellent Book for Working With VETS
This book has been a great source in our group discussion for a Substance Abuse Vocational Employment Program that we work with here at the VA Medical Center. Some of the topics are the main issues that addicts have problems with. I have also shared the information from this book with individuals at my local church. I plan to order at least five copies of the book.

Still Available
Dangers Men Face is NOT out of print. It is readily available from NavPress or christian booksellers.

Daring to Draw Near: People in Prayer
Published in Paperback by Intervarsity Press (September, 1977)
Author: John White
Average review score:

A Life-Changing Book
This is, without question, the best book on prayer I have ever read. It has dramatically altered the way I pray, both in terms of what things I pray about, and what I expect from God during the exchange. John White is a masterful writer who does not shy away from pointing out what our personal weaknesses might be in our prayer lives. He speaks truth boldy. While reading this book I often felt convicted and saw the need for a transformation of how I pray. Daring to Draw Near will show how our prayers should be more God-centered than they probably are, and that they should be more focused on prayers for "our people" and our community. We are challenged to be honest in our prayers about who God really is and about who we are and what we think. If you read this book, your prayer life (and the rest of your life) will never be the same.

A fresh look at prayer
Much of the current attitude about prayer left me confused and discouraged, leading me to believe that prayer changes God and that I simply need to "pray harder" if I'm struggling. Mr. White's book, however, by looking at prayers recorded in the Bible, reaffirmed that our prayers are an important response to an unchanging God. Rather than taking a flippant view of the struggles behind some of these great prayers, he addressed them honestly and in context with other Scripture. Of course, it is good to have a clear understanding of prayer, but this book has played a role in my walk which has been even more important: it has encouraged me to pray more and more.

David

Changes your perspective...
I first recieved the book DAVID as a young child... too young maybe. I read the book from start to finish, and I could tell I had a different outlook on life. The things that David went through, and the things that Marie went through, gave me my own strength for my own life. The book shows excellent detail on everything from Marie's fear when she recieved the telegram, to her pride in her son when he went to the park for the first time since he got back. There is nothing I would like more then to read up on David, a sequel? Maybe? Thank you... Jessica, Michigan Please Write with your opinions...

On Personal Magnetism
This book is an absolute gem. A must for those seeking self-empowerment. Magno's no-nonsense attitude is coupled with unorthodox, but extremely effective exercises that help build confidence and self-reliance by doing away with everyday mysticisms and self-fulfilling prophecies. The Dream of the White Village
Published in Paperback by R. N. M. Inc (March, 1999)
Author: Philip E. Baruth
Average review score:

deceptively simple (both the book and the city it is set in)
Philip Baruth has accomplished something very rare with The Dream of the White Village. He has captured the very soul of Burlington; a very human soul that is sad, funny, dark, and uplifting at various turns and sometimes all at once.

Collage of people you encounter everyday but don't see
This was an interesting book which effectively captures the lives of a set of people living in a small city in New England - simple, sometimes desperate, but real, life. It truly is a series of stories which is in some ways enjoyable; at the same time I wished I could have read more about some of the characters who the reader only briefly encounters. A few are really hilarious.

Editing by Design: Word-And-Picture Communication for Editors and Designers,
Published in Hardcover by Rr Bowker (January, 1974)
Author: Jan V., White
Average review score:

a classic design resource!
I had this book in 1986 for a college course. 15 years later and now a senior graphic designer, I realize that I continue to use many of the basic principles that this book taught. Yes, it focused on magazine/newspaper layouts; however, it taught the typography basics that my drawing and painting classes didn't. I'm now searching for one as a teaching reference. This book is well worth it to any beginning designer--if you can find one!

I love it.
A master of magazine and book page design and display writes clearly about the art and shares exciting examples. Principles are applicable to any picture display.

EIGRP for IP: Basic Operation and Configuration (The Addison-Wesley Networking Basics Series)
Published in Paperback by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (31 May, 2000)
Authors: Alvaro Retana, Russ White, and Don Slice
Average review score:

Nicely written book for rarely found subject
Pros:

This is one of the only two books available covering EIGRP in details. Most of other routing references do not have the same level on in-detail descriptions and protocol-specific information this book has. Add to that the smooth style of the authors which makes reading this book a pleasant experience

Cons:

May be EIGRP's code is not finalized yet and there are many enhancements added after this book is published. I think the authors need to issue a second edition with more information regard new features in the protocol. Although the book gives numerous examples of real life scenarios, It cames short of small pool of theoretical details " which are necessary if you run into *other* scenario rather than the ones listed. Finally, as many networks are migrating from IGRP to EIGRP, I think the authors should designate section for the migration process

Consise and precise
For a book that weighs in at only 100 pages it seemed rather lightweight in comparison to other EIGRP/routing books I have read. But the quality of the content is very consise. The book is well paced and covers all aspects of EIGRP. From the mechanics of the protocol through to setup and network design decisions. The protocol troubleshooting sections are worth the price of the book in itself ( Far better than any others I have read) . And for the low price this is an excellent purchase.

Top Notch.
